Jean Grolier (1479-1565) was among history’s most discerning collectors of beautiful books, possessing one of the finest private libraries of his time. His “Last Binder” was the Parisian shop that produced most of his later commissions and was responsible for the gold-tooled, brown leather binding recreated here.
This Paperblanks Grolier journal is inspired by one of his last great commissions, a gold-tooled marbled brown leather binding with an interlaced curving design of single-line fillets and floral tools filling out the six-pointed star.
